Toyota made the Lexus LFA 13 years ago and nothing has been the same since. Car fans and collectors have asked, pushed, encouraged, begged the Japanese automaker to recapture that magic but it never worked.
Even the new Lexus LFA managed to do that so now Toyota is at it again with a new sports car dubbed the FT-Se and an SUV named the FT-3e.
The names aren’t great but that doesn’t matter, the LFA didn’t have a great name either.

The SUV (above) will hopefully (for them) sell, but will the FT-Se work as a spiritual replacement to the LFA? Probably not. But at least they’re trying.
Based on teased images, which are less than clear, we’ve got a Gazoo Racing GR logo, a rear ducktail spoiler, a two-seat cockpit with a yoke steering wheel and a variety of displays.
The car will be unveiled at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show and hopefully it’ll be exciting. Unfortunately it won’t have a V10.
And maybe that’s why no cars will ever be able to recreate that magic.
