We all knew the highly anticipated 911 Carrera S (992) would be introduced at this year’s LA Auto Show (branded “Automobility LA” during the press days) which is why I had to come here to see for myself.
And here it is:
Porsche built the 992 so that it can, theoretically, accomodate an electric unit but there are no actual plans for a hybrid 911, at least for now. The 911 Carrera S is powered by a turbocharged 3-litre flat-six developing 443 HP. Good enough for 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. That number goes down to 3.2 seconds with the all-wheel-drive option. Power is translated into motion with the aid of a new, eight-speed, dual-clutch PDK gearbox, but Porsche said a manual gearbox will also be available. Prices start at $114,000 in the US.
More about the show in the upcoming days.
