The Public Utility Commission in Texas has given Tesla Energy Ventures’ – a subsidiary of Tesla – permission to operate in the Lone Star state as a REP, which stands for Retail Electric Provider.

The Automaker wants to build 100 megawatt batteries to supplement the power grid in Texas through another one of its subsidiary, Gambit Energy Store.
What does this mean? Well, basically Tesla will now sell cars… and the energy to power them.
