If you’re into Formula E, and if you’ve watched the inaugural race in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia a few days ago, you may have noticed a rather striking Porsche Taycan being used as Formula E’s safety car. I gotta say, in my opinion, it looks even better than the previous safety car, the BMW I8 and the Mini Pacesetter.
They’ve obviously picked the fastest Taycan available, the Turbo S, which delivers 761 PS (peak power), 750 hp and a whopping 1,050 lb-ft of torque. It only takes 2.8 seconds to get to 60 mph and the top speed is limited to 160 mph.
Despite the necessary modifications, the cabin looks fundamentally ‘normal’, except for the new emergency lighting system, a full roll cage and racing seats with 6-point harnesses.
