The Alpine A110 was launched in December 2017 and it is a fantastic little car. I’ve driven one – the S model – in late 2019 and I loved every minute of it. And with it.
Alpine has since revealed a bunch of spin-offs models such as the Première Edition and the Légende GT 2021, and there’s a new one. Actually, there’s a whole new range, comprising the three upgraded vehicles: the A110, A110 GT and A110S.
All three are powered by a 4-cylinder 1.8-litre turbo engine, sending the power to the rear wheels courtesy of a Getrag 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The ‘base’ model delivers 252 bhp, while the GT produces 300 bhp. The S also produces 300 bhp but a few things have been tweaked to make it more track-friendly. There’s a custom-made aerodynamic kit, and semi-slick tyres (optional).
Apart from the new carbon components, the upgraded Alpine is available with a new two-tone paint option (Fire Orange and a Deep Black roof) and new black 18- inch GT Race wheels with orange brake calipers.
The S can also be fitted with racing seats, Michelin PS Cup 2 Connect semi-slick tyres and an Aero Kit to push the needle up to 275 kph (165 mph). 0-60 takes 4.2 seconds (4.5 for the base model).
The infotainment system has also been updated but that’s mostly because they’ve made it even more tech-friendly, by adding things such as activate voice recognition, Google Online Search for addresses as well as upgrades for the sat-nav (risky areas, traffic updates, upcoming service stations including fuel prices, etc.) BUT they’ve also upgraded the car’s telemetrics menu.
It is also compatible with FOTA (you learn something every day, don’t you?), which stands for Firmware Over The Air.
Prices start from €59,500 for the A110, €69,500 for the GT and €71,500 for the S.
If you can, buy one. Before they replace the 4-cylinder unit with an electric engine, which they will. Sooner or later.
