Zap-Map, an app designed to help drivers locate EV charging points in the UK, has conducted an interesting study, interviewing over 3,000 EV and PHEV owners and asking them a simple question: would you go back to petrol/diesel? According to the study, 9 out of 10 said no.
I’m guessing the result wouldn’t be as one-sided if they only asked EV drivers, because a plug-in hybrid is still powered by petrol or diesel. Having said that, it’s also true that EV owners were more satisfied with their choice (92%) than PHEV owners (84%). Overall, 91% said they were “extremely happy” with their vehicle and wouldn’t consider a petrol- or diesel-powered car for their next purchase.
As part of the survey, Zap-Map also asked drivers about their longest trips in an electric car, with more than half (53%) revealing they have driven 200 miles or more on a single trip, 24% said they’ve driven their EV for more than 300 miles and 7% said they’ve done over 500 miles on one journey.
