I’d say this is a strange, unexpected but overall interesting collaboration: Panerai, born in Italy but currently owned by the Swiss group Richemont, teamed up with Brabus for a new skeletonised automatic watch.
It’s based on the Submersible and named ‘Brabus Black Ops Edition’ (ref. PAM01240), and just like Brabus cars, it is loud, carbon fibre-friendly and expensive. Both the 47mm case and the bezel are made from Carbotech, a composite material based on carbon fibre and developed by Panerai. It is shock-resistant, water-resistant up to 300 metres and powered by Panerai’s P.4001/S caliber, with 31 jewels and a 3-day powere reserve.
I like the fact that Brabus didn’t try too hard to put its signature on the watch. You get ‘Brabus’ on the strap, a relatively sober ‘B’ on the dial and an inscription on the case back, and that’s about it.ADREMOVE?
It’s vulgar. And yet it isn’t. I’m not sure why but I actually like it. It’s limited to 100 pieces, priced at £40,400 GBP. What do you think? Would you wear it?
