Right, I’ll admit it: I’d never heard of Lorige before. It’s a watch brand and as soon as I looked into it, I immediately I was in love. Their latest model, the BL-Endurance, is made from used car brakes and, rather fittingly, the company has just signed a partnership deal with Peugeot Sport.
This particular piece is made from the brake pads of the Peugeot 9X8 prototype with DLC-coated titanium parts, including the bezel and the screws. The ‘engine’ inside the 51.6 mm case is a Swiss Jura-made LOR-PR01, a manual-winding, 37-jewel, 294-component movement with a 45-hour power reserve.
Production is limited to 24 pieces, each with a hefty € 29,200 price tag excluding taxes. Ouch.
