I apologise in advance for the slightly silly and whimsical headline but the truth is the EQS has been with us for a few months ago and I still haven’t decided whether I like it or not. I certainly like the interior, but even though the I find the 56-inch MBUX screen striking, it’s also a bit annoying.
The ‘top-of-the-pops’ model provides 350 miles of range, the EQS580 4Matic has an electric motor on each axle, which technically makes it all-wheel-drive, and it delivers 516 hp and 611 lb-ft of torque, good enough for a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds. But I gotta be frank, these things don’t really interest me, mainly because though I still haven’t driven the EQS, I was fortunate enough to drive a bunch of Mercedes models and a few rocket-fast electric sedans, so I already know the EQS will be seamless, quiet, refined, and fast.
I’m still unconvinced this is a good-looking car, though. It looks alright at the front, okay at the rear, the side profile is also decent but overall, it looks a bit odd. And I can’t explain why. Or is it just me?
