There’s a very good reason why supercar manufacturers are building SUVs: money. Yup, good ol’ cash. We don’t like to hear it, I guess, but not only is the Urus one of the fastest-selling Lambos, it will soon become the brand’s best-selling vehicle of all time, and on top of that, Lamborghini said that over 60% of Urus customers had never purchased a Lambo before. This is crucial.
It was unveiled in late 2017 and it helped Lambo grow, commercially and financially, even in 2020, when Lambo had a record year in terms of profitability.
This is something most petrolheads don’t necessarily care about, but the Urus is a good car. And it certainly looks a lot better than most rivals.
The engine is a 4.0-litre V8, delivering 641 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 takes 3.6 seconds and the top speed is in exceed of 186 mph. And it can do that on ice, as it turns out, because it’s actually done it, in Russia.
Back in March 2021, Lamborghini tested the Urus on the surface of Lake Baikal, a lake in Russia that’s often frozen in the winter and that’s why automakers use it for testing.
